Who is “One New Man”?
The Prophets foretold of the day when God’s people would genuinely embrace all of His ways, healing, wholeness, peace, joy, love, and purposes as we reunite in UNION with Him and each other. So who is the “One New Man” that the Bible refers to?
“You, Israel are My witnesses,” declares the Eternal One, “And My servants whom I have CHOSEN, So that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me. Everyone who is called by My name, I have created for My GLORY, whom I have formed,
even whom I have made.” Isaiah 43
Before we address who “One New Man” is, I first need to mention a little about the Messiah and His people.
First, a little about the Messiah
We believe that the man identified in the Bible (Gen. – Rev.) as Jesus the Christ was / is the prophesied Messiah of Israel. However, His mother most certainly did not name Him “Jesus” because His lineage is one of faithful Hebrews, and “Jesus” is a Greek name. Also, while the Messiah was born on earth approximately 2,000 years ago, the letter “J” didn’t exist until only 500 years ago. However, there is some question regarding how His actual Hebrew name should be pronounced. I don’t believe this is something He is overly concerned about, so I am not either. I sometimes refer to the Messiah as Jesus but for various reasons, I usually refer to Him as the Master Yeshua.
“Peace and mercy to the Israel of God”
Apostle Paul
And a little about Israel
The Bible identifies God’s people, who are scattered throughout the world, as the “Israel of God“. It is important to note that the “”Israel” of God” that is spoken of in the Bible and this article is NOT the body politic of the nation state currently located in the geographic region currently identified by that name. The ENTIRE Bible speaks to this. Certainly, some who live there are God’s people, but the Bible clearly declares (Gal. 6:16, Lk. 1:68, Mt. 15:24) that the Israel of God readily embraces the Master Yeshua as Israel’s Messiah. Also, according to the Bible, the majority of God’s people are currently dispersed throughout the entire world. All of the Prophets address this as well as the Gospels and the rest of the Apostolic writings. Lastly, I should probably mention that we do not believe that christianity is the “new Israel” and we do not believe that Jerusalem is located on the American continent.
From James, a slave of God and the Master Jesus the Christ, to the twelve tribes dispersed abroad. Greetings! Apostle James
Similarly, the word “Christ” is not a name. Rather, it’s a Greek adjective that has been converted to a title. “Christ” means “Anointed One”. For more on all of this, please click here.
For this is the covenant that I will make with the House of Israel after those days, declares the Eternal One: I will put my law / instructions within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And
I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Prophet Jeremiah
So back to the question of “who are the people of God”?
As mentioned above, the Bible identifies the people of God as “Israel”. Israel views the Master Yeshua as their Messiah. As the Prophets declared, we are dispersed throughout the world. The Master Yeshua is in the process of uniting us. Ephesians 2:15 identifies those who are being regathered for the glory of God as “One New Man”. This verse primarily refers to dispersed Israel being united as one, but it ALSO speaks to the individual restoration of God’s people to a place of wholeness, or “shalom”.
I don’t know if it is possible to overstate the Messiah’s significance. However, I DO know that what He emphasized in His teachings is very much deemphasized in much of the mainstream today. In other words, what the Bible clearly relates was more important is hardly mentioned in the mainstream. The Gospel of Matthew records His mission statement, which He began teaching immediately upon beginning His ministry.
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
One New Man
That day the Prophets spoke of is now dawning. We are part of the fulfillment of the prophecies mentioned at the very beginning of this article regarding the regathering of God’s people, and we are continuing with the same message as the Master’s: “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand.” If you have made it this far in this article, then YOU are probably part of the fulfillment of these prophecies also.
Those whom God is calling out of the world’s systems and into union with Himself can be found everywhere; from every geographic location, nation, “religion”, and culture. Wherever they are, whatever their circumstance, God is in the process of revealing Himself, calling out, healing, restoring, and transforming us into His image as “One New Man”, both individually and as a people in union with Him and each other as part of the Kingdom of God.
There are many of us, and the number is growing. We are currently scattered throughout the world as flickering flames.
Some of us have walked with God most of our lives; others are experiencing an awakening. In many cases, both are occurring at the same time. Some have been active in our communities. Others have found that they just don’t fit in. Many have suffered in a multitude of ways, been ostracized, discarded, rejected, mistreated, viewed as misfits, and/or just ignored or passed over.
