29 min. Knowing who you are in relation to your Creator: It sounds elementary doesn’t it? But the reality is that in well over 20 years of ministry I have found that few people understand that relationship.
In this teaching I emphasize that while having knowledge of the Bible, being able to teach, or other skills might help you, the only way to live the fulfilled life that you are called to live is to know your true, core self.
In that light I highlight the need to align with God’s plan for your life and live in accordance with your true, core identity.
This is one of the most important teachings that I have ever given. I hope that you will embrace this message and seek a deeper understanding of yourself in relation to your spiritual journey; and that these truths in God’s revealed Word will help you as much as they have helped me.

00:01 When it comes to the things of Elohim, the things of God, you can know a lot about the Bible, you can have a lot of the Bible memorized, you can teach things, you can have dreams and visions, you can be a leader, you can do all kinds of things. But if you don’t know who you are, you will never reach your full potential. And so, today, that’s what we’re going to talk about. “Knowing who you are.”
“Know who you are” so that you can be all that the Most High has for you to be. The key to knowing who you are is to know your true self, your core self, you might say.
What I’m going to share with you today is something that I really, really struggled with for most of my life. But once I learned the things that I’m going to share with you today, everything turned around for Me; at least on the inside and actually lots of things around Me changed too because “I” changed.
I know the power of what I’m going to share with you today and so I hope that you will embrace it.
I’ve probably given thousands, at least over a thousand, Biblical teachings I’m certain. But out of all of them, if this is not the most important, it’s certainly one of them. And so I hope and pray that that you’ll really grab on to what I’m going to share today because I know the power of what the Most High has revealed to us in His written word in regards to your true, core self.
So today, I’m going to share with you three main points that I hope will help you.
The first is, “you existed in eternity before entering your physical body”. Your true self, you, your core, you as a spirit, existed in eternity before entering into your physical body.
The second thing I want to discuss is Elohim, God, sustains you while you are in your physical body.
The third point; Elohim, God, will lead you, your “true” self, while you are in your physical body.
If you are aligned with Him, and if you allow Him to, and if you remove the barriers and the hurdles that prohibit Him from being all you want Him to be in your life He will do these things. The more you can do these things, the more you can align with the Most High and the more fulfilled your life will be. The overall goal of all of this is to help you to better align with the Most High so that you can live the Zoe’ life, the full life; life as He has it.
But before we really get started, I want to mention to you just a word about covenants. The typical words that we hear in regards to the Biblical context of a “relationship” with God or “Jesus” would be something like “asking Jesus / Yeshua into your heart”. The Scriptures reveal to us that if you’re asking Yeshua into your heart, the chances are He’s probably already there.
05:04 John 6:44 says, No one can come to me unless the Father who sent Me draws Him to Me. That’s Yeshua speaking. And so, again, if we are asking to align with the Most High, He’s probably already with us. So then what we want to do is enter into covenant with Him. It’s a different process. The covenantal life is not necessarily about being a a new person that is created or recreated: In a way it is but not really.
The covenantal life is really about allowing our true self, our core self, to come forth and enter into alignment with the Most High. It’s about breaking off all of the hurdles and all of the worldly, fleshly lifestyle so that there are no barriers that prevent us from walking with the Most High and aligning with Him.
The reason it seems that we have a new life is because we are releasing our true self to come forth and be who we really are: A child of the Most High made in His image. Praise God. So, that ties in directly with point number one, and that is, again, “you were in Eternity passed before entering your physical body”.
Jeremiah 1:5 says, Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart.
Psalm 139, 13-18 says You formed my inward parts. You wove Me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully made.
You are wonderfully made.
Wonderful are Your Words. My soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you. When I was made in secret and skillfully brought forth in the depths of the earth.
It’s very interesting about that phrase, “skillfully brought forth in the depths of the earth”. Of course, the original language that verse was written in was Hebrew. So what is that word “earth” in Hebrew? Well, it’s earth. No hidden meaning there. And not only is it earth but as I looked in several translations, every one that I could find translated that Hebrew word the same way.
09:50 So in Psalm 139:13-18, specifically in verse 15, King David says, “I was made in secret and skillfully brought forth in the depths of the earth. Verse 16, your eyes have seen my unformed substance and in your book were written all the days that were ordained for Me, when as yet there was not one of them.
So clearly, David is saying that the Most High knew us before anyone else did.
But this is not only an “Old Testament” / Tanakh subject. The Renewed Covenant, the New Testament says the exact same thing.
Ephesians 1:3-6 reads Blessed be the Elohim and Father of our Master, Yeshua Messiah, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly places in Messiah, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world.
Now, for the sake of time, I think I’ll go ahead and stop there. But again, He chose you for such a time as this before the foundation of the world.
Ephesians 1:3-6 and Romans 8:29 says, For whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His son. Whom He foreknew He also predestined.
You may know that there’s a big controversy about predestination. The reason for that controversy is because people start reading the Bible at Matthew, or sometimes even in the book of Acts. But if you go back and read Genesis, Psalms, and Jeremiah as we have today, then you will know that you are indeed predestined. But you are not predestined after you were born. You were predestined while you were in eternity past. Knowing and embracing that can be a very major part in changing your life.
Many of these Scriptures you’ve probably heard but maybe not all together and probably not in this context.
So you might be thinking, well what about being “born again”? How are you “born again” if you were brought forth from eternity past?
Well let’s talk about that for a moment. The term “born again” is found in John 3:1-8: There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of Egypt. This man came to Yeshua at night and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that You have come from Elohim as a teacher, for no one could do these signs that You do unless Elohim is with him.
Yeshua responded and said to Him, truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.
I’m going to go ahead and pause there again for the sake of time. But I want to talk about these words specifically: Born again.
Again, John 3:3 says, Yeshua responded and said to Him, Truly, truly I say to you, unless someone is born again, He cannot see the kingdom of God.
15:01 This word, born, can certainly mean born in the manner of which we usually think; coming to life. But just as legitimately, it can also mean “brought forth”. The word “again”, oddly enough, actually means “from above”. The notes in your Bible may even say that.
So now I am going to read it with those things in mind. Yeshua responded and said to Him, truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is “brought forth from above”, He cannot see the kingdom of God.
That changes everything, doesn’t it? You see, just like everybody, when the translators translate they write in accordance with their doctrine. And their doctrine isn’t always correct. In fact, sometimes their doctrine will lead to a lot of turmoil and even devastation in a person’s life.
17:06 The second point I’m going to address today is as I mentioned, “Elohim sustains you while you are in your physical body”. Now I’m going to read several verses. You can see, just by looking around, that the culture is falling apart around us. What we’re talking about here are real answers that will change your life for the better and allow you to be all that Elohim wants you to be.
Colossians 1:16 says, By Him, Yeshua, were all things that are in Heaven, in the earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, dominions, principalities, or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.
It’s those last words that are so important for us today: By Him all things are held together.
You are part of creation, and it is by Him that you are sustained. Elohim sustains you while you are in your physical body.
Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden upon the eternal, and He will sustain you.
Psalm 73:26
Elohim is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
He is the strength of your heart. When you embrace the reality that you were brought forth from eternity past, and that He knew you then, just as He knows you now, it’s only reasonable that His strength is your portion.
20:04 Just as He sustains you now. He sustained you in eternity past. By Him all things consist. That’s not just all things on the earth: It’s all things everywhere throughout all of time. His energy, His life, His vitality sustained you in eternity past in the same way it sustains you today.
Matthew 6:31-32
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or, what shall we drink Or by what shall we be clothed?
Now here we go: Matthew 6:32. For your Heavenly Father knows that you have need of these things.
Your heavenly Father knows that you have need of these things. Well, how does He know? How does He know what you have need? He knows because He is a very significant part of you. He’s right in there. in union with your core, true self. He has always been with you since the day you were created in eternity past.
And finally a Scripture that I have quoted many times that will probably be familiar to you.
John 17:21
That they may all be one as you Father are in Me and I am in you. That they also may be one in us.
Unity? Alignment? Why? Because He created you in eternity past. Your Creator was one with you in eternity past, and He’s one with you today. He is one with you today because you’re the same person that you were in eternity past.
22:28 The third point again is, Elohim will lead you if you are in union with Him. Remember what I said before regarding the covenantal life? Living in covenant with the Messiah? Living in covenant with Elohim? It’s not about being a brand new person, created or even recreated. Rather it’s about your original self coming forth: Your true self coming forth and being allowed to be all that you were created to be.
So how does that happen? It happens by removing all of the hurdles, by breaking all of the generational curses, by removing the distractions of today’s world. All of these things combined, and more, can make it very, very difficult for the true you to align with the Most High. And so, much of our responsibility then is to break away from all of those distractions and deterrents so that our true, real, authentic self, that truly was made in the image of Elohim, can spring forth. It is in THIS way that we become a “new creation”.
2 Peter 3:9 says that the Eternal is long-suffering towards us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
A lot of people think that repentance is changing your actions. But that’s not really what it means. It certainly includes that, but the changing of the actions come as a result of changing the thinking. That’s what true repentance is: Changing your thinking and then changing your actions as a result of your thought process changing.
And so, it’s His desire that we should all come to repentance. In other words, aligning ourselves with Him. And by the way, if you haven’t figured that out yet, it’s a lifetime process.
25:05 John 15:4 says, abide in Me and I will abide in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.
Again, as we abide in Him, as He is the stock, you might say. We cannot bear fruit unless we are intimately connected to Him. Likewise, if we are intimately connected with Him, we will bear fruit as we abide with Him.
Romans 8 14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of Elohim, they are the sons of Elohim.
As you are His, the more He leads you, the more you will be in union with Him.
And then Romans 8:16 says that the Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of Elohim.
John 1:12-13
But to as many as received (take hold of) Him, to them gave He the power, the authority, to become sons of God, even to them that believe on His name, which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Isn’t that powerful? Hallelujah! These Scriptures make me so excited! As many as take hold of Him, to them He gives power, the authority to become His son (daughter), to those who were born of God. And when were you “born of God”? In eternity past! All of those Scriptures that we read before reveal that to us.
Well I hope so much that this has been an encouragement to you. Again, I personally struggled a great deal, more than I could express, because of various Bible doctrines that I was taught along these lines.
I am so thankful that the principles that I have shared with you today changed my life significantly, substantially, overwhelmingly and forever. It’s not just the truth that sets you free, rather it’s the truth you know that sets you free.
I know these things will change your life too if you allow them to and if you apply them.
And so I urge you there for a Brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to Him, which is your spiritual service of worship. Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2
I pray this has been a blessing for you. May the Most High I bless you today as you align with Him in your true self.
